rabbit ears
home

I became interested in rabbits during my years in 4-H. I participated in rabbit showmanship for many years, winning awards and trophies at my county fair and even competing at the state fair in 1997.

I currently own two house rabbits. They have free run of a carefully bunny-proofed part of the living room in accordance with the recommendations of the House Rabbit Society.

Ariana (Ari):

My 'April Fools Bunny,' Ari was born April 1, 2000. She is a Himilayan, with black points.

At the time I got her, I was living in an off-campus apartment with a no-pets policy. I very much wanted to have a pet at school, so I asked the manager if I could have a "caged" pet. He agreed, so I brought Ari home over the Thanksgiving break. She didn't stay caged for long.

There is nothing quite like being woken up in the morning by a hungry (for treats!) bunny licking your face. I also have fond memories of her jumping into my lap for petting while I was writing papers late into the night.

My college days are past,  but Ari continues to be a big part of my life. I love coming down in the morning to see her swirling around my feet while I put my shoes on.

Sorilea (Sori):

Sori was born in August of 2002. She is an agouti colored Dutch.

I had always wanted a Dutch (breed) rabbit, so when a friend let me know that she had some babies, I eagerly requested one. This was after college, so I'll never have quite the memories associated with Sori as I do with Ari, but she's a very sweet rabbit who has some quirks of her own.

Aaaand as long as I'm doing a page on my pets, I better include Cali.

Cali is a part-siamese cat that I rescued in mid 2004.
