Helmet Caberg Justissimo

Purchased in July, 2006 from Lone Star BMW in Austin, TX.

It's flip-up with an internal flip-down tinted visor. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go back to a regular full-face. It's just so convenient. I really love never having to juggle extra shields and sunglasses.

I love my Caberg. I'd still like to try a Schuberth C2. I just don't have the money for it right now. Arai Quantum /F
(damaged 6/2006)

Excellent helmet. I can't recommend it enough. I just want a flip-up for more versatility. I seem to have an "Arai head."

HJC CL12

A typical cheap first helmet. It was too loose because I didn't know better at the time I bought it.
Cold Weather Jacket Tourmaster Transition

warm and waterproof with lots of venting for versatility when touring. It has good CE armor and a pants attachment zipper in back. I really like the multiple arm adjustments and silver color.
Aerostich Roadcrafter 1-piece

dream dream dream
Someday I'll make that trip to Duluth... or just order one shipped here. Possibly before next winter, whenever I can get the cash together.
FirstGear Kilimanjaro
(circa 2001)

warm and waterproof. It's too big and I don't really trust the armor, but it's great for touring and can handle any temperature with layers. It's just ok in hot weather.

Fieldsheer Highlander 1-piece

It was perfect for touring, but was DONE after 2 years and around 30k miles. The zippers were failing and I couldn't trust it, so I went back the Kili jacket that had been languishing in the closet.
Hot Weather Jacket AlpineStars T-Stunt Air Flo

Good armor, tight mesh, water-resistant zip-in liner. I really like this jacket although it makes me look a little pixie-ish with the big logos. It seems to be more protective than other mesh jackets I've tried on.
Maybe....

Cycleport Kevlar Mesh Suit. It's not a priority or even a big dream. I'm essentially happy with my hot weather gear right now.
Joe Rocket Phoenix

Purchased several years ago, this was one of the earlier versions of this jacket. They've since improved, adding a waterproof liner. I liked the armor, but didn't like the looseness of the mesh.
Leather Jacket Joe Rocket Blaster

It works for those times I 'm required to wear leather. I toured in it once. It majorly sucked.
I wear leather only once or twice a year. Future purchases are unlikely. It just doesn't fit my riding style or needs. n/a
Textile Touring Overpants Tourmaster Caliber Pants

The shell is waterproof and has a full length leg zipper. A zip-in quilted liner is included. I like the CE armor and stretch panels over the knees for flexibility on a sportbike.
Aerostich Roadcrafter 1-Piece

Will eventually replace these as my cold weather gear
The Fieldsheer Highlander previously held this spot....preceded by a pair of FirstGear Hypertex overpants. I still have the FG pants...just need to lose some weight, darnit.

Hot Weather
Overpants
FirstGear Hypertex Air Pants

Great! Waterproof liner and full length leg zipper. These ones are mesh, so they give up some protective quality for air flow. I wouldn't want to ride in really cold weather with them though.
The FirstGear pants should last me a good while, especially since I upgraded the armor in the knees and hips. I'd eventually like to sew a jacket attachment zipper into the back. n/a
Leather Pants FirstGear

They're black and have a velcro patch for knee sliders if I should ever need them (Hah!)
Really sucked to tour in. I wear them only when required.
I wear leather only once or twice a year. Future purchases are unlikely. It just doesn't fit my riding style or needs. n/a
Boots Sidi Strada Evo Tepor

I was truly shocked by the comfort difference between these and other boots in the price range. I had a competitors boot on one foot when I slid into my first Sidi (aka HEAVEN).

Waterproof, flexible, and several protective features.
The Sidis are pretty nice, but I wouldn't mind some waterproof race style boots with more protection. AlpineStars S-MX

It took a long time for these to break in, but they served me well for over 3 years. My only regret is not getting the waterproof version. I still have them for trackday use, when I need more protection than the Sidis offer.

I will no longer ride in anything but very protective race-style boots. I like my ankles intact, thank you.
Gloves Tourmaster Cortech Scarab

It's a few model years old, but you get the idea...
Love 'em. I wouldn't buy anything less protective for street use. Unfortunately, after several years of use, the leather is starting to wear through in the fingers. I'm in the market.  I haven't decided yet if I can afford to plunk down for the Racers.
Racer High End Kangaroo Gloves

I tried these on last year and they are the best I've seen anywhere. Pricy though. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy them yet.
Various - Spidi, Joe Rocket.
Cold Weather Gloves Racer Multi-Top Waterproof

These don't replace my TMs for arctic weather, but these lined gloves have better feel in wet or cold weather, and my heated hand grips willl take care of mild cold.

Tourmaster Coldfront Carbon

Protective, but very bulky. Great for really cold weather, but your hands will smell funky if it rains.
I'm happy with what I've got! Various
