I was born and raised in
San Jose, CA. My early years were very busy with school and 4-H
activities. From 1988 to 2004, I was involved in 4-H at almost all
levels from local to national. I participated in and helped organize
events associated with woodworking, rabbits, outdoor camping,
public speaking, leadership, and technology.
A love of history,
spaces, and (most importantly) Legos led me to attend Cal
Poly, San Luis Obispo,
achieving my Bachelors of Architecture in 2002. I had a lot of fun
playing the piccolo in the CP Marching Band as well as organizing
events and mentoring other students as a Resident Advisor for two years
in the dorms.
My two-wheeled career
began during my
third year of college when I convinced my parents to help me purchase a
beater 1988 Honda Elite 80 scooter. I rode it everywhere, even slapping
on some soft luggage and "touring" out to the nearby beaches via
backroads. I've owned several other motorcycles since that little
scooter. Read more about them on my motorcycles page.
After graduation, I
found a great job
with an architecture firm in Campbell, CA and spent several happy years
discovering myself as an adult. I bought my dream car, a "big green
truck," during this time. I'll be the first to admit that my
2003
Chevrolet Silverado often gets neglected in favor of other forms of
transportation.
I also re-discovered
life outside
motorcycles. I learned to enjoy motorcycle camping, backpacking, novice
mountain-biking, and indoor rock-climbing. I'm a voracious reader,
enjoying science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction.
In March of 2006 I
decided a change was needed and moved myself, my two bunnies, my cat,
and my motorcycles to Houston, TX.
Since then I've been
enjoying meeting
wonderful people, discovering new roads, and continuing to work on
fulfilling my dreams. For the latest updates, check out my blog.
Why 'Rocketbunny'?
During my first year of
college, I
lived in a dorm that had a high percentage of nerds. These guys got me
addicted to computer video games, especially Quake and Warcraft. In
Quake, one of the first true-3D first person shooters, my favorite
weapon was the rocket launcher. I'd run around the map, firing off
rockets and often achieving high "frag" scores against my friends. As a
game "alias" name, I settled on Rocket-bunny, which worked well due to
my love of that particular weapon and my long association with rabbits
from 4-H.
